1. How did the national industries develop during Swedeshi Movement?Explain in short.

Answer: The swadeshi Movement led to the rise of the spirit of self-improvement which led to the advancement of Indian industries. As foreign goods were rejected, people now turned to locally made goods. The outcome was that several major industries and many small-scale industries came up in different parts of the country. Spinning machines, small and medium hand-loom industries, industries for producing mustard oil, soap, sugar, match box, biscuit, etc. were established. During this period, national banks and national insurance companies also appeared. One of the establishments set up during this period was 'The Swadeshi Bhandar' which became a reputed textile firm. It was started by Rabindranath Thakur. Yogesh Chandra Choudhury and Krishna Bihari Sen jointly established 'Indian Stores' at Bou Bazaar, Calcutta. Sarala Devi Choudhurani started 'Lakshmi Bhandar' at Cornwallis Street in Calcutta. 'ThebUnited Bengal Stores' was also established during this period.

The heavy industries sector likewise saw some drive during this period. Nilratan Sarkar started 'Banga Lakshmi Cotton Mill' in August 1906 while Acharya Prafulla Ray established 'Bengal Chemicals' in July 1906. A significant initiative was the establishment of Tata Iron factory in Jamshedpur in 1907 by Jamshedji Tata. On 17th December, 1905, the first Indian Industrial Summit was held at Benares with R. C. Dutta as the Chairman. The Summit created awareness among the Indian people about the prospects of the indigeneous industries. Thus the Swadeshi Movement prodded industrial growth in the country.

1. The administration offered different titles, posts and awards to moderate leaders of the Indian National Congress with the expectation that they would bolster the government in its various acts. the moderate congress leaders were also offered posts of judges of High Court, membership of British Parliament, membership of Viceroy's Council, and so on.
2. The British attempted to please Muslim leaders to woo them away from the Indian National Congress. They urged them to begin a political party of Muslims to oppose the moves the Indian national Congress. To great extent, hey succeeded in this venture.

Answer: The Swadeshi movement had a far-reaching contribution to Indian politics, economy and the cultural world. For example:
1. The Swadeshi Movement gave rise to national ideology in the public mind. People started adopting indigenous products. As a result, the business of the British was disastrous.
2. Through the Swadeshi movement, the activities and thoughts of the Indian leaders changed. They realized that India's overall development was possible through a mass struggle.
3. The Swadeshi movement inspired and made the people emotionally strong for the Indians' independence movement.

Answer: On July 20, 1905 Lord Carzon, the British Viceroy, announced the formation of a new province, 'East Bengal and Assam', by dividing Bengal in two and connecting Assam with one half.
The movement which was formed in Bengal to protest the government's announcement was called 'Swadeshi Movement.' The main agendas of this movement were three, viz. 1. Exclusion of foreign materials 2. Production of goods locally, and 3. Conduct of national education. The following is a brief discussion of these agendas

1. Exclusion of foreign goods - Leaders of the Swadeshi Movement urged the masses to abandon all kinds of goods, clothes, sugar, salt etc. produced in England. They also decided not to use the English language and to abdicate all the titles and councils' membership given by the British government. Its underlying purpose was to make the British government economically disastrous via economic blockade.
2. Production of goods locally - They emphasized the use of domestic goods. They inspired the Indians to create their own materials. It was thought to achieve self-reliance. For all the raging nationalists Swadeshi Movement was an economic, political and spiritual movement against the British.
3. Conduct of national education - The third program of Swadeshi Movement was to receive national education. The agitators were in favour of adopting Indian educational culture by discarding British-introduced English education. As a result of this program many educational institutions were formed. For example, a national college was established in Calcutta, with Arvind Ghosh appointed as principal.

Answer: In the Swadeshi movement, some women took active and administrative roles with men.
For example, inspired by the revolutionary ideology of Sarla Devi Choudharani in West Bengal, Bir Ashtami Brat, Pragyaapaditya Festival etc., were organized in the imitation of Shivaji festival in Maharashtra, and trained young people in sticks and wrestling. 
Sister Nivedita inspired young men and women to become self-reliant by joining the Youngmen Hindu Union, Vivekananda Society etc. in Kolkata. Many other women, along with them, stunned the British by participating in the movement. The adventure of the women of Bengal was published in London's 'Daily Telegraph.' It was remarked, "Women in Bengal are more dangerous to the British government."

2. Wholesale prices have decreased compared to the previous one. 
3. The amount of foreign currency has increased in the Central Reserve Bank.

Answer: The General Assembly is one of the various organs of the United Nations.  It is formed by all member states of the United States. Each state can send up to five representatives, but each state has only one vote. The General Assembly session is held once a year but the Secretary may invite the special session as needed. 
The General Assembly has certain functions and powers.
1. The General Assembly may discuss any matter referred to all the organs in the United Nations and may advise the Security Council. This can draw the attention of the Security Council on any matter.
2. The General Assembly may set some policies for the purposes and objectives of the United Nations. It can also instruct member states on human rights.
3. The General Assembly may inspect the functions of other organs. The annual report of all the organs of the United Nations has to be submitted to the General Assembly. Similarly, the Secretary-General has to submit the annual report to the General Assembly.
