TOPIC: CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND PEDAGOGY
CONCEPT OF DEVELOPMENT
Human development is a continuous or dynamic procedure by which quantitative and qualitative development happens inside a person. In this development procedure, new capacities and attributes(characteristics) become showed and there is a dynamic change in behaviour. So, development can be described as development in physical, mental and emotional condition of a person. It is a long lasting process.According to the investigation of human development, a person's development is grouped from infancy to maturity or from dependency(reliance) to autonomy (self-rule).
According to Jersild, Telford and Sawrey, "Development refers to the complex set of processes involved in the emergence of a mature functioning organism from a fertilized ovum."
According to E. Hurlock, "Development is not limited to growing larger; instead, it consists of a progressive series of changes towards the goal of maturity."
According to J. E. Anderson, "Development is concerned with growth as well as those changes in behaviour which results from environmental situations."
Based on given definitions, it tends to be said that development is a term used to signify overall changes in shape, structure or form due to physical, mental, emotional, social or cultural transformation.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
As we have seen in the definitions, psychologists depicted development as far as growth or vice a versa. In any case, the two terms are not quite the same as one another. In this way it is fundamental to know the contrasts between these two.
Factors influencing Growth and Development
Main factors which influence human growth and development are as per the following:
1. Hereditary
2. Environmental
3. Intelligence
4. Birth order
5. Gender
6. Endocrine
7. Nutrition
8. Race
9. Diseases and injuries.
Stages of Human Development:
This period begins from birth and stays till 5 years old. In this period, a child is absolutely dependent on parental help. for the satisfaction of his/her needs. The environment of the family influences the future reasoning, thinking, improvement and style of his/her life. This is a period wherein a child experiences quickest physical growth and development. During the infancy stage, a child learns to walk, run and communicate his/her needs in a couple of words. he/she likewise learns how to distinguish family members and get involved in his/her environment.
A child at this stage learns to:
1. Crawl, stand, walk, climb.
2. Eat and drink.
Emotional development during infancy stage:

2. Emotions or discomfort and happiness
3. All emotions are spontaneous and children enable to control them.
Social development during Infancy stage:
1. Desire or friendship
2. Willingness to play with other children.
